Pinterest is full of pictures and recipes for the trendiest foods- the latest smoothie bowls, salads, and high protein meals. We may want to try them, but it’s hard to ask where to find the ingredients if we don’t know how to pronounce them.
Independence Day is just around the corner and that can mean barbeques and celebrations that often are centered around food. Dr. Shillingford wants his weight loss surgery patients to know that an invitation to a party doesn’t have to be an invitation to overeat or to eat foods that aren’t a part of their bariatric surgery diet.
Bariatric patients are encouraged to eat their protein first. With a goal of 60-80 grams of protein, gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and gastric band patients have to pay attention to what they are eating to ensure that they are meeting their protein goal (without exceeding their carbohydrate goal).
Gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and lap band patients are always looking for high protein lunch ideas. If they are quick and easy to prepare that’s even better. If they are also tasty, that’s great.
Aldi, a recent addition to the local grocery industry, has a new feature: grocery delivery at home. It’s called Instacart and it is available in the Boca Raton and surrounding areas, which are frequently where Dr. Shillingford’s gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, lap band, and laparoscopic surgery patients live.
Chicken thighs have a reputation for being juicy and flavorful, a perfect combination for bariatric patients. The dark meat of chicken thighs is moister than chicken breast, which is helpful to gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and lap band patients struggling to eat protein after their surgery.
